THRISSUR: Nitish Kumar has ousted MP Veerendrakumar from the post of state president of Janata Dal (United). He has been replaced with A S Radhakrishnan who is a native of Thrissur and member of the state committee.

Veerendrakumar has been sacked soon after he announced that he is going to relinquish his Rajya Sabha membership. Veerendrakumar had openly criticised Nitish Kumar joining alliance with the BJP.

Meanwhile, the Veerendrakumar group is planning to convene a state committee in Kozhikode on December 17, and form a new socialist party and join hands with the LDF.
