IDUKKI: CPI has intensified their legal battle against encroachments in Munnar. CPI executive member P Prasad has filed a petition with the Chennai Green Tribunal to demolish all illegal constructions in Munnar.

In his petition, he has said that there is no political conviction in solving the issues in Munnar. He has also said that the encroachers are destroying Munnar and that the forest and environment acts must be strictly adhered to in Munnar.

The petition that says that the people behind the encroachments are big shots, also posts the Central and the state governments as opposing parties.

Meanwhile Devikulam MLA S Rajendran has come up with strong opposition to the petition. He has said that the people behind the petition doesn’t know about Munnar, and has challenged them whether they have the guts to ask the immigrants to evacuate.
