THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that he’d submit a letter with the Chief Minister demanding a CBI probe in the death of Neyyattinkara native Sreejiv during police custody.

He added that if there is no favourable response form the CBI regarding this, he submit a petition at the High Court demanding the same.

Chennithala was speaking after paying a visit to Sreejiv’s brother Sreejith who has been holding a hunger strike in front of the Secretariat since the past 764 days.

He also made clear that he’d sop everything in his capacity to provide all legal help for Sreejith and that he’d stand with the social media demand seeking justice for the young man.

The Parassala police arrested Sreejiv on May 19, 2014 charging him with a case of robbery. Sreejiv died at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College on the second day. His relatives allege the cause of his death to be the brutal treatment by the police.

Former SI of Parassala Gopakumar, and ASI Philipose are the alleged culprits behind Sreejiv’s death.
