THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The hopes of Sreejith, the brother of Neyyattinkara native Sreejiv who died during police custody, who has been on a hunger strike in front of the Secretariat demanding a CBI probe in his brother’s death, seems to be fading as the CMO has informed him that the CBI has refused to take up the case as it is not rarest of the rare, even after the government approached them demanding the same.

The CMO has clarified that they have done all that is possible as requested by Sreejith and now the only way ahead of him is to approach the CBI via court.

Sreejith has also said that he would continue with his hunger strike until the CBI agrees to take up the case.

Meanwhile, political leaders have started visiting Sreejith as his protest started gaining attention in social media. Earlier the day, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala visited Sreejith and offered him all legal help. He was followed by Yuva Morcha state president Prakash Babu who has started a hunger strike with Sreejith. Also, DYFI leaders A A Rahim and I Saju, and I P Binu also visited him and offered to help him with all legal aide.

The social media took up Sreejith’s case about two days before, and the hash tag ‘justice delayed is justice denied’ is trending in the social media. The members of the Facebook community are trying their best to bring more people to join the cause of Sreejith.
