KOCHI: The Kerala state government has appealed against the handing over of the case regarding the murder of the Youth Congress member Shuhaib in Kannur to the CBI.

The government has approached the Division Bench against the judgement by the Single Bench.

The HC handed over the case to the CBI after overcoming the strong resistance by the government. The Single Bench headed by justice Kemal Pasha passed the judgement observing that the investigation of the case was not efficient. The Thiruvananthapuram CBI unit is in charge of the case. The HC had also ordered the government to immediately hand over the case diary and other documents in connection with the case.

The HC Single Bench’s judgement was on the petition filed by Shuhaib’s parents stating that the investigation by the police was not satisfactory and that the case must be handed over to the CBI.
