THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The forecast is that the low depression formed in Sri Lanka’s South West region may turn into cyclone but the government, based on met department forecast, clarified that Kerala won’t get affected by the Cyclone and it may move towards Lakshadweep.

But considering danger factors, fishermen have been asked not to go out into the sea for trawling. Chief Minister has instructed district collectors and Naval forces to be prepared to meet any eventuality.

Central team to visit Kerala tomorrow

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that a 45-member Central team will visit Kerala on Wednesday following cyclone forewarning. “All Central teams have been given instructions to help disaster management teams. The teams have given instructions to fishermen not to go to the sea till March 15. The State is ready to meet any emergency needs,” he said.

Fish workers find shelter in Lakshadweep

There are 36 boats and 382 fish workers from Kerala at Kalpani Island. About five boats reached Bithra. The shipping service from Kerala to Lakshadweep has also been stopped.

The met department has warned fishermen against going to sea till Thursday.

Those who are already at the sea have been asked to return home at the earliest. Four ships and four aircraft of coast guard have been searching for fishermen at the sea. They will be brought back home.
