       21 including MLA among injured in two accidents

KILIMANOOR: Two accidents were reported on Wednesday at Pacha along the MC Road here. Idukki MLA Roshi Augustine got injured in one of the accidents. A total of 21 people got injured and hospitalised in the two accidents.

The accidents took place after a superfast bus collided with a lorry carrying timber, and in another incident a fast passenger bus collided with a Toyota Innova on Wednesday morning.

The condition of none of the injured is serious. The MLA in the bus got injured after the bus collided with the timber lorry. This accident took place at 2.00 am. The superfast going from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottarakara tried to overtake the timber lorry and after brushing against the lorry it went ahead and collided with another superfast that was coming from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram. The MLA was travelling in the superfast that came from Thrissur. The natives the Kilimanoor police jointly took some of the injured of the accident to the Venjaramoodu Gokulam Medical College and another four to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

Besides the MLA, the other injured admitted at the Gokulam Medical College include Bijukumar (50), Siyad (55),​Antony(64), Basin (29), Tom (20), Laiju Varghese (40), George (55), Susi Thomas (55), Vijayan (35), Muhammad Rashid (54), Aneesh (38), and Selvaraj (54).

Those admitted at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College include Ajeesh (28), Muhammad (47), James Jose (50) and Shamsudeen (53).

The second accident happened after a fast passenger collided with an Innova car in which a family travelling from Thattayil in Adoor to Thiruvananthapuram was travelling at 8.00 am. Those injured include native of Thattayil Karunakaran (63), wife Supriya (59), Presanna (39)​,​ and driver Benny (56). They have been admitted at the Gokulam Medical College. The police have informed that the condition of none of the injured is critical.

The people in the neighborhood said that the second accident was caused because the timber lorry after the accident in the early morning was not removed from the spot.
