THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs officials at the international airport here on Tuesday confiscated foreign currency amounting to Rs 22 lakh from a Gulf-bound passenger. They identified the suspect as Sony Radhakrishnan Chandrika. He had concealed the currency in his shoes. The Air Intelligence Unit also seized 244 cartons of foreign cigarettes valued at Rs 2,44,000 from various passengers in the past four days. Commissioner of Customs, Sumit Kumar, supervised the operations.
