THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has intervened to find a solution for the ongoing strike by doctors protesting against extending the OP time, as the strike has entered its fourth day.

The IMA has asked the doctors to come for a discussions with the government.

Meanwhile, the doctor have also started making moves to bring the strike to an end. The doctors have kept a suggestion in front of the government that the OP can function till evening in family health centres with a minimum of three doctors, as part of this move. However, the government has made it clear that this assurance should be in writing. This might be accepted by the doctors.

Health Minister K K Shylaja is getting ready to go to Hyderabad to attend the CPM party Congress, and hence the discussion may happen today evening itself.

With the doctors’ strike continuing, the situation of the patients have become worse. The KGMOA has informed that they would boycott even the emergency ward and in-patient ward from Wednesday onwards if the strike continues. A state committee meeting of the organisation would convene in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday to discuss this.

The doctors boycotted the OP ward from Friday onwards. Thousands of patients had to return without getting treatment with this until now. Currently medical PG students and house surgeons are treating patients in the emergency wards.
