KOCHI: The statement given by Sreejith before his death that it was the civil police officers who took him into custody who had brutally beaten him up is out.

Sreejith said so to the doctors who treated him at the private hospital where he was admitted.

“I was taken into custody by two police officers who came in civil dress. I was taken out of my home, and was beaten up brutally a few meters away from my home,” he had said.

The doctors have revealed this to the investigation team.

Besides, the team of doctors who tended to Sreejith had earlier informed the investigation team that Sreejith had received brutal beatings while he was in police custody.

The top portion of Sreejith’s small intestine had ruptured because of the continuous and repeated beating to his abdomen. The doctors have also informed that almost 90 per cent of Sreejith’s small intestine was damaged. They have also said that Sreejith’s BP fell dangerously low following the brutal treatment that he received and this eventually led to his death.
