THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Parents of Youth Congress worker V P Shuhaib, who was killed in Mattannur, have approached the Supreme Court, demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident.

Shuhaib’s father C Muhammed has given a petition, seeking revocation of the high court stay on the CBI inquiry. In the petition, it is said that the probe that is happening now is not effective and the case may be handed over to the CBI before the evidence got destroyed.

Earlier, in response to the parents’ petition, high court single bench had ordered a CBI inquiry into the murder.

But a division bench stayed the order temporarily, following an appeal filed by the government.

The court had also said that the trial of the case would be conducted after summer vacation. But now, the father has said in the plea that this gap would affect the inquiry of the case and evidence would be destroyed.

Shuhaib (29) was murdered in the night of February 12.
