THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports suggest that K Muraleedharan MLA is in the process of forming a new group within the Congress party. There are also reports of a section of Congressmen holding a secret meeting in Kochi as part of this.

It is speculated that Congressmen who are dissatisfied with the functioning of the broad ‘I’ Group under the leadership of Ramesh Chennithala are giving leadership to the formation of the new group. Those dissatisfied Congressmen are coming together at district-levels under the name of ‘K Karunakaran Study Centre’.

It is said that these are Congressmen who went with K Karunakaran when he started a new party and later returned to the party became a part of the ‘I’ Group. The supporters of Karunakaran have been dissatisfied with the function of the ‘I’ Group for some time now. Ignoring them in the recent KPCC reshuffle has also been pointed out as a reason for their dissatisfaction.

K Muraleedharan denies formation of new group

Meanwhile, K Muraleedharan has denied the news regarding formation of a new group within the party. He has said that he is not aware of any such meetings happening, and has also denied the formation of a new group within the party under his leadership.
