KOCHI: A magistrate court here sent the three accused in the Varappuzha house attack case to Crime Branch’s (CB) custody till May 11.

The accused, identified as Vibin, Thulasidas, and Ajith, had surrendered before the Aluva magistrate on Saturday. The court sent them to custody of the investigation team following the latter’s petition seeking their custody for evidence collection and recovery of arms used in the attack.

They had gone into hiding at Thodupuzha and Coorg in Karnataka following Vasudevan’s suicide on April 6. According to sources, S.R. Sreejith, victim in the Varappuzha custodial death case, was mistakenly taken into custody for Thulasidas, alias Sreejith.

Meanwhile, one more person arrested earlier by the local police in the house attack case has raised allegations of custodial torture against G S Deepak, the previous Varappuzha sub-inspector. Sreekuttan, Sreejith’s co-accused in the case, was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi complaining of immobility. Sreekuttan later told the media that the police repeatedly kicked on his head and spinal cord in the lock-up.
