THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The United Democratic Front (UDF) will observe the 2nd anniversary of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government on May 18 (Friday) as ‘betrayal day.’

The UDF will stage demonstrations in front of a State government office in all the 140 Assembly constituencies under the auspices of the UDF Assembly committees.

As part of the demonstrations, UDF workers would read out a chargesheet against the LDF government highlighting its lapses, coalition convener P P Thankachan said here on Wednesday.

On the day, UDF leaders will attend a function to release a book written by Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala highlighting the lapses of the two-year-old LDF government.

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will release the book by presenting the first copy to Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary P K Kunhalikutty.

The official website of the UDF will be launched by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president M M Hassan at the book release function.

The betrayal day programmes will culminate with a public meeting at Gandhi Park here, to be addressed by Chennithala and other UDF leaders.
