THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In reply to KPCC president M M Hassan’s statement that public remarks will be restricted, Congress leader V M Sudheeran said at a press conference here on Wednesday that the panacea called ban is not practical while dealing with issues.

“In a meeting I had said that banning public remarks is not a solution for all problems. Whenever I had come across mistakes in the party, I had pointed it out. I’m not an opportunist and my personal relationships are permanent. Banning public statements after committing irreparable mistakes doesn’t make sense. In 1994, when RS seat was given to a constituent party, the then finance minister Oommen Chandy resigned from his post and worked to strengthen group politics. M M Hassan was a person who called a press conference in the KPCC office when I had restricted public statements in my capacity as a KPCC president

Sudheeran also rejected the allegation that he had an eye for Rajya Sabha seat. He added that he had much earlier renounced parliamentary electoral politics. “Media should not fall for fake campaigns against me,” he added.
