THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The state government has issued an order revising the remuneration of contract/daily wages guest lecturers with the UGC-prescribed qualifications under the Collegiate Education Department and for those without the UGC-prescribed qualifications.

It was in 2015 that the remuneration of guest lecturers was enhanced to Rs 500 per teaching hour subject to the ceiling of Rs 25,000 for those having UGC-prescribed qualifications and Rs 300 per teaching hour subject to a ceiling of Rs 20,470 for those without UGC-prescribed qualifications. In February, the Director of Collegiate Education and service organisations had sought the remuneration of guest lecturers in government and aided colleges be enhanced.

The State has now revised the remuneration of daily wages/contract teachers. Accordingly, UGC-qualified guest lecturers will get Rs 1,750 a day subject to a maximum of Rs 43,750 a month. Non-UGC hands will get Rs 1,600 a day subject to a maximum of Rs 40,000 a month.
