KCOHI: Kerala High Court has said that the case filed against ADGP Sudesh Kumar’s daughter Snigdha for allegedly beating police driver Gavaskar need not be cancelled.

“Do you say that there is no need for a case since the accused is the daughter of ADGP?” the court asked the counsel of Snigdha while considering her petition for cancelling the case.

The court asked counsel what circumstance was there to cancel the case. “The law is equally applicable to all. In this case, it is better that the police probe the case and understand the real facts. A case can’t be cancelled merely on the basis of a medical report,” the court said.

But Snigdha’s advocate said “this is not the stand the government is having in Gavaskar’s case. How can there be two stands in the same incident.”

Meanwhile, the court also enquired whether a new bench was needed for hearing Snigdha’s and Gavaskar’s case simultaneously.

The chief justice’ opinion will be sought over this.

By the way, police submitted the case diary and Gavaskar’s medical documents in the court.
