THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The cultural affairs department has sanctioned a sum of Rs 2 lakh as aid to be paid to the family of the late ghazal singer Umbayi. Cultural Affairs Minister A K Balan informed the family members about the government’s decision when he visited them on Saturday in Kochi, a statement of the Minister’s office said here.
