KOCHI:  The city police arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly recorded the intimate video of a couple residing at Elamakkara using a mobile application and then attempted to blackmail the husband.

The arrested is Ajith S of Ambalappuzha. The complainant’s wife, who allegedly connived with Ajith, has been named the second accused, though she is yet to be arrested.

The complainant’s wife had allegedly installed an application, Track View, on his phone, enabling Ajith to record their private moments.

He later threatened the complainant and tried to extort money from him by showing the clips. However, the police said no money changed hands.

According to the complaint, the complainant used to send money to his wife from abroad, while she refused to divulge how she used it up.

The police are yet to get a full picture of the alleged fraud and are looking into all aspects, said an officer.

Ajith was booked under Section 66-E of the IT Act and will be presented before a magistrate.
