THRISSUR: Pampady Nehru College authorities’ claim that first year computer science student Jishnu Pranoy copied in an exam appears to be fake.

Technical university exam controller Dr S Shabu said that he had not received any complaints over  copying from the college.
Shabu revealed this fact when he went to the college along with University registrar Dr G P Padmakumar to collect evidence according to the education minister’s instructions.

If there is any instance of copying, the exam controller is intimated as per rules. Shabu clarified that he had not received any such complaint.

The exam controller has also decided to record statements from students regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, college authorities said that on an exam day, Jishnu copied from the answer sheet of a nearby student, which was spotted by a teacher. He was then summoned to the principal’s room and warned against copying. He was told that he would be debarred by the university if he repeated the mistake of copying.

Kozhikode native Jishnu Pranoy (18) was found to have committed suicide in his hostel room on Friday evening.
