KOCHI: A division bench of the High Court of Kerala ordered the state police chief to provide protection to the life of students, teachers, and staff of the Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pambady, and the properties of the institution. The court also asked the police to provide protection to the life of the college chairman and other trustees of the college.

It was on a petition filed by P Krishnadas, chairman of the Nehru Group of Institutions, that the court issued the order. The petitioner approached the court in the wake of an attack on the institution following the alleged suicide of an engineering student of the college.
