THRISSUR: The University of Science and Technology has decided to appoint an independent Ombudsman to hear the complaints of students in all Engineering colleges in the State. He will be an officer not below the rank of District Judge. The above development follows the incidents that led to the suicide of engineering college student Jishnu.

Technical varsity experts have also decided to visit all 155 engineering colleges in the State. The students will be allowed to give their complaints to the Ombudsman, who will examine them and instruct solutions.

The decision on renewing the affiliation of the college will be taken on the report submitted by the Ombudsman.
