THRISSUR: Education Minister C Raveendranath visited the family of Jishnu Pranoy, a student of Pambady Nehru College, who committed suicide.  The minister reached Jishnu’s house at 8.30 am Thursday morning along with E K Vijayan MLA. He consoled Jishnu’s mother and spent twenty minutes there. He handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Jishnu.

The minister later told reporters that the government has taken over the issue seriously. He termed the incident as unfortunate. Steps would be taken so that such incidents are not repeated again.

Jishnu’s mother told the minister that there was no need for her son to copy as he was a brilliant student. He will never take such an extreme step. The college management is responsible for his death. She requested all to stand together and get them justice.
