THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have taken into custody seven persons for hacking a DYFI activist at Poojappura. Those taken into custody are Pallan Suresh, Alambra Aji, Simgam Dhanesh, Vinod, Kiran, Karali Sajith and Sreejith Unni. They are all involved in various cases and belong to a criminal group also. The accused hacked 26-year-old-youth identified as Clint, a DYFI activist, last night.

Police said those taken into custody have no links with the incident.  A clarity can be brought only after more investigation. The incident happened at 7.45 pm last night. He was attacked by the gang while coming back after work. Seriously injured Clint has been admitted in the medical college hospital. He sustained two wounds on the head and one on his elbow.

Police said a dispute between Clint and one from the team two days back is behind the incident. CPM district secretary Aanavoor Nagappan and Chalai area secretary S A Sunder visited Clint in the hospital.
