KASARGOD: Notwithstanding the grim power scenario, the government is making all-out efforts to see that no power tripping is resorted to in the State with the mercury soaring to dizzy heights, Minister for Power M M Mani has said. The power situation in Kerala was grim as the State could produce only 30 per cent of the power required for domestic, Mani said, inaugurating the State Electricity Board (KSEB)’s 30th section office in the district at Seethangoli in Puthige panchayat here on Sunday.

In such a grim scenario, people should come forward to set up solar panels in their buildings, he said at the function at which he declared Manjeswaram as fully electrified Assembly segment in the district. Houses or buildings yet to be electrified should be charged by March-end, he added.

The function, presided over by P B Abdul Razak, MLA, was addressed by N.A. Nellikkunnu, MLA, besides representatives of various local bodies, leaders of various political parties, and senior KSEB officers.

Mani also inaugurated a 33-kV substation at Kelugudde locality and laid the foundation stone for a KSEB office here. Addressing the function, Mani offered assistance to those who took steps to generate energy.
