MALAPPURAM: The Muslim League has written to K M Mani MLA requesting him to support P K Kunhalikutty in the imminent Lok Sabha byelection. The letter was drafted by party general secretary KPA Majeed.

The letter seeks total support of K M Mani and his party Kerala Congress for Kunhalikutty. The letter stresses on the necessity of secular parties to stand together and has references to national politics.

The demise of E Ahammed had necessitated the by-election in Malappuram. Ahammed had achieved an impressive win in the last election and UDF now hopes for a repeat of that success. This is the reason why League has approached Mani, despite his party’s exit from the UDF.
