KOCHI: The body of Thilotama Naik, who died of burn injuries after being denied treatment at various hospitals a week ago, was flown back to Odisha, her native State, on Saturday.

The 20-year-old pregnant woman from Raighat suffered 54 per cent burns on March 11. She was denied admission to three hospitals, before getting admitted at a private hospital three days later.

The body was released to the victim’s relatives on Saturday after preparing an inquest report in the presence of M.C. Bharatan, tahsildar, Ernakulam. The body was subjected to an autopsy at the Ernakulam General Hospital.

Official sources said the district administration would look into the allegations of the woman being denied treatment at various hospitals in Ernakulam before being admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. It was alleged that the woman was left unattended at the ESI Hospital for more than two hours.
