MALAPPURAM: In separate cases, the police arrested two persons for sexually abusing their daughters on Sunday. One of the victims is a step-daughter. A 50-year-old man hailing from Vengara was arrested soon after he landed at the airport from the Gulf. He reportedly had raped his 17-year-old daughter when he came home on vacation two years ago. The incident came to light when the girl began to show symptoms of restlessness as her father was returning home from the Gulf. On counselling, the girl admitted that her father had raped her many times two years ago. Although she had reported the incident to her mother, she remained helpless. In another case in Ponnani, a man was arrested for abusing his 14-year-old stepdaughter. Childline officials, whose intervention saved both the girls, said that the stepfather had not raped the girl. Both the girls were shifted to the Nirbhaya Home at Manjeri.
