THRISSUR: Electricity Minister M M Mani in his causal remark has said, the complaint that implementation of Athirappilly hydroelectric power project will result in the loss of forest land is not a serious thing. “What is important is electricity and not forest,” he said.

The minister said the government had been trying to implement the project after arriving at a consensus. “The Congress has clarified that they are against the project. The support of all parties are required for its implementation and hence the government will keep trying for a consensus. We don’t know when the mind of people who are opposing the project now will change,” he said.
