KOCHI: Kerala High court has slammed the police in connection with the arrest of Nehru Group Chairman P Krishna Das.
It asked the police why they had interfered in a case in which there were no complainants. “The police have screwed in sections, which didn’t find mention in the complainant’s initial statement. If some wrong prosecution procedures have followed by the police, the court will take action against the police officers concerned,” the court remarked while considering the anticipatory bail plea of Krishna Das.

“The court knows how to deal with police officers who are making a fool of the court. If the court writes against an investigation officer or team, no politician will be able to help him or it. The police should not be the one who take action based on people’s interest. Inquiry should be held based on evidence and statements,” Justice Abraham said.

Earlier Krishna Das had moved the high court, seeking anticipatory bail.

But in a surprise development, police arrested five persons including Krishna Das on Monday in the connection with the alleged assault on Palakkad Lakkdy Jawahar Law College student Shaheer Shaukkalath.

Meanwhile, the high court has postponed the hearing on Krishna Das’ bail plea to Tuesday.
