NEW DELHI: Union minister C R Choudhary, who recently visited Munnar, has submitted a report saying that Munnar is in a dangerous state and that the building there could crumble down any moment. He also mentioned that the greenery in Munnar is fading away.

His report also said that the roads in Munnar are narrow and is not easy for forces to reach in case of an emergency.

The minister has also pointed out that there are many high raised buildings in ecologically sensitive areas of Munnar. “Natural disasters like landslide can happen any moment in these areas,” says the report, and adds that it is necessary to clear out all encroachments of government land regardless of which party had encroached. He said that the state government must take measures to take care of this.

He completed his report by saying that Munnar is still a favourite place to travellers and it is essential to maintain the greenery of the place and make better roads and transportation there.

He has also suggested that all hotels should be allowed to operate only out of the valley.
