KASARAGOD: Having arrested a youth, who hails from Haryana, for indulging in malpractice in a recent examination for recruiting post men-cum-mail guards, local MP P Karunakaran has sought a detailed probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to expose the larger conspiracy involved in the alleged irregularities.

The MP made his stand clear in letters to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister on Wednesday, Karunakaran said. The Centre should institute the CBI probe to expose the well-knit racket that spoilt the prospects of competent jobseekers, he said in a statement here on Wednesday. The CBI probe was imperative in the light of similar instances in Tamil Nadu.

The youth from Haryana was caught by an invigilator while he was trying to decode answers using his mobile phone while appearing for the examination here on Sunday last. The police, charging him under IPC Section 420-B, remanded him to judicial custody.
