KANNUR: Two persons, including a 19-year-old ITI student and a 40-year old youth was killed, and three others injured in separate motor bike accidents at Thana and Thalassery. According to police, the dead were identified as Athul (19), a second year ITI student, son of Prabhakaran and Praseedha of Karaparamba near Kuttiyattor and Khalid (40) of Muzhipilanghad. The incident occurred around 0500 hrs, when the motorbike of Athul lost control after it hit a street dog and overturned at Thana, about 3 km from here. The pillion riders, Shijil (19) and Sallap (20), who are friends and neighbors of Athul suffered minor injuries and has been admitted at a private hospital here.

All the three students were on the way to Kannur railway station to see off Salap, who was scheduled to attend an interview at Ernakulam. Suddenly a street dog crossed the road and hit the motorbike that lost the control and overturned at road. A lorry which was behind the motorbike ran over Athul, killing him on the spot. In another accident at Thalassery NH near Conorvayal cricket stadium, Khalid (40), a coolie worker in Thalassery fish market, was killed when his motorbike collided with a car around 0900 hrs. His brother Firoz, who suffered minor injuries and admitted at Thalassery cooperative hospital, while Khalid succumbed to his serious injuries on the way to a hospital at Kozhikode after first aid treatment from Thalasssery hospital.
