THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran has said the police onslaught on strikers at Puthuvypeen IOC plant was a man hunt. The police attempt to give it a terror angle is to justify its brutal action and also to facilitate the invocation of UAPA.

“Police action will show the government in a bad light and eclipse the achievements of the government. The strike was called by common people and the lathi-charge against them should be discussed immediately,” he said.

Earlier Ernakulam Rural SP had alleged that terrorists were behind the strikers.

Meanwhile, wide spread resentment is on the rise against police action. Cardinal Mar George Alaecherry said that supressing strikers is not good for the government.
