KANNUR: The nursing students have come forward in protest against the district collector’s order to deploy final-year nursing students to substitute the protesting nurses. But the nursing students at a private college in Pariyaram have expressed their protest against this by bunking classes.

They have said that they will not go to private hospitals as substitutes to the protesting nurses, and added that they would approach the high court against this order by the district collector.

The collector had said the other day that action will be taken against those colleges and students who refuse to follow his order. He has also declared 144 in Kannur to tackle the strike. It has also been decided to arrange for police security in those colleges where the strike is going on.

Meanwhile, the managements of private hospitals have started making moves to bring back all the retired nurses. They have also informed that the duty time of the nursing students will be from morning till evening.
