KOZHIKODE: Aslam Gurukkal, suspended national vice president of the BJP’s minority cell , who has been accused of trying to abduct K T Rabeeullah, a businessman based in West Asia, has alleged that CPI(M) top leaders had conspired to trap him in the case.

The Bengaluru-based leader told media persons here on Wednesday that he had gone to Malappuram to meet Rabeeulla, who, he claimed, was a close family friend, on July 24. Gurukkal claimed he was accompanied by his personal security men and another friend.

Gurukkal claimed that Rabeeullah’s family members behaved with him rudely and denied permission to meet him. “Some goondas hired by them attacked us and damaged our vehicle,” he said. It was the local police who rescued him. He alleged that later the police took him back to Malappuram and arrested him. He claimed that he had been trapped in the case by the ruling party in the State as he was a BJP leader.
