With the confirmation that Kochi too would stage the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the crew behind Jayasurya starrer ‘Captain’ seems to be more excited than the football lovers of Kerala. They are planning to release the football-themed biopic movie during the World Cup in September, and hope to cash in on the football fever.

‘Captain’ is based on the real life story of Sathyan, one of the greatest football stars that Kerala has produced till date. Sathyan was part of the Kerala team that won its second Santosh Trophy in 1992, and retained the champion’s title in 1993. The prolific football star later committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Chennai in 2006.

Jayasurya will get into the cleats of Sathyan in the movie, while Anu Sithara, and Siddique will play the other prominent roles.

Director of the movie Prajesh Sen has said that the shooting of the movie has been completed.
