KASARGOD: A three-year-old boy drowned in a water tank at Mettammal on the Thiruvonam day, near Thrikkarippur, the police said. Kaushik, along with his elder brother Karthik, was playing near their grandmother’s house when the young boy slipped into an underground water tank. After his brother raised the alarm, the boy was recovered from the tank and rushed to a hospital at Payyannur, where he was declared brought dead. The body was handed over to his relatives after a post-mortem examination at the Pariyaram medical college hospital.

The body of Shaiban, two-and-a-half-year-old son of Kabeer, a resident of Cherur in Chengala panchayat, near here, was recovered from the Chandragiri river at the Thalangara fishing harbour after the boy went missing while playing near his house around 2.30 p.m. on Sunday. The body was recovered following a massive search by the Fire and Rescue Services and the Coastal Police, assisted by local people.
