THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that he is happy about the rescue of Malayali Father Tom Uzhunnalil who was abducted by terrorists from Yemen in early 2016.

He added that it was Oman’s intervention that made this possible, and added that Kerala will do everything in its capacity to bring back the much worn out Fr. Uzhunnalil back to his home town, and do the needful for his treatments.

He also said that he is happy to join in the happiness of the believers and the general public at his safe return.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala also said that he was happy at the rescue of Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil. He added that he had given a letter to former President Pranab Mukherjee when he visited Kerala, regarding the rescue of Fr. Uzhunnalil, and also had a word with the External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.

He also said that he is eagerly waiting for Fr. Uzhunnalil to return home hale and hearty.
