KOLLAM: A girl who fell into a backwater from a moving train at Kollam Paravur was rescued on Wednesday. The accident happened in the morning at 8 at Mammoottil Bridge across Paravur backwater.  The accident victim is 21-year-old Pappanamkodu native who was travelling in Punalur-Kanyakumari passenger train.  She is the engineering student of TKM engineering college.

She was standing near the door of the train and in the strong wind, the door banged against her and she fell off the train, according to the police.

At the time of the mishap, fishermen in two boat were near the place. They along with police’ Janamaitri Kadalora Jagratha Samithy carried out the rescue operation. Paravur police also reached the spot on being alerted. She was given primary treatment at Nedunkolam government hospital and send back home with her parents.
