THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city police arrested two youths on Sunday with alleged possession of marijuana and narcotic drugs.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ananthan alias Ananthu, 23, of Kunnukuzhy, and Nikhil, 21, of Ulloor. Their arrests were recorded by the Poojappura police after they were nabbed by a city shadow police team.

Among the items that were allegedly confiscated were 2 kg of ganja and 40 capsules of drugs that are usually prescribed for neurological disorders such as epilepsy.

They have been accused of peddling the contraband in close vicinity to educational institutions, recreational areas including parks, as well as places of worship. The police said that the duo was arrested from near the Poojappura ground when they had gone to peddle the substances.
