KOCHI: The Kochi city police have arrested a person on the charge of breaking open seven coffers at the Sree Siva Subrahmanya Temple, and stealing Rs. 2,000 in the wee hours of Monday.

The arrested has been identified as Shyju Narayanan, 42, a resident of Thankamani in Kattappana. Acting on a complaint, the police inspected the crime scene and found the gold and silver idols intact.

A probe was launched and a police team found a man under suspicious circumstances at the Vyttila Mobility Hub. Upon questioning, he admitted to the crime.
