THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the government all geared up to take action based on the Justice Sivarajan Commission report, that investigated the ‘solar scam’, the Congress has started thinking about defensive measures.

As part of this, the Congress will approach the court seeking a copy of the full version of the commission report.

Based on the findings by the Solar Commission, the government had earlier announced that vigilance case will be filed against former chief minister Oommen Chandy for taking bribe, and also a criminal case for helping and sexually abusing Saritha S Nair, the second accused in the case.

The government has also decided to take a criminal case against the then home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan for being an accomplice and trying to sabotage the investigation by influencing the investigating officers.

Also, based on the letter submitted by Saritha S Nair, case will be filed against all those mentioned in her letter with charges of corruption and rape.

The Congress will argue at the court that there’s discrepancy and political motive behind the government not letting out the entire copy of the commission report. They will also point out there’s discrepancy in letting out the report before it being tabled in the Assembly.

Meanwhile the KPCC will convene a political affairs committee to discuss the issue.

Chennithala to go to Delhi

With the report of the Solar Commission coming out that has put the state Congress under pressure, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will start for Delhi today to have a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. He will also meet other AICC leaders.

Meanwhile, the government is getting all geared up to initiate vigilance and criminal probes into the case based on the commission’s report. The order for probe by the government can be expected on Thursday itself.

The government has also decided to intensify the probe by including new officers.

The special investigation team (SIT) under DGP Rajesh Gewan will convene a meeting today.
