THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Sports Council’s G V Raja Award for the year 2016-17 has been announced by sports minister A C Moideen on Friday.

International badminton star Rupesh Kumar has won the award for the best male sportsperson, and athlete Anilda Thomas won the award for the best female sports star.

The lifetime achievement award in the name of Olympian Suresh Babu has been awarded to Gabriel Joseph.

The award for the best sports person includes Rs. 3 lakh cash, memento and a citation, while the lifetime achievement award includes Rs. 2 lakh cash, memento and a citation.
