Everyone has heard about the popular red street of Mumbai called Kamathipura. It is known as the paradise of the needy. It is the centre of sex workers.

It’s described in many ways but not many of us are familiar to the tales of woe and ignorance of its many women.

Sobhita Dhulipala, who is the female lead in the upcoming Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Moothon’ directed by Geetu Mohandas, visited the red street of Mumbai. It was no casual visit but she went there to study about the life of those unfortunate women there, for her role in the movie.

‘Moothon’ tells the story of a youth who goes in search of his elder brother from Lakshadweep. Geetu is making the movie in Malayalam and Hindi.

Sobhita dons the role a head strong sex worker in Kamathipura. The actress said that she enjoyed filming for the movie, and that most of it was shot in guerrilla style. She talked with the women of the red street and even stayed for day in one of their cramped rooms. She said the women of Kamathipura are noble and know how to love others even when they themselves lead a hellish, pitiful, and scary life.

Sobhita said it’s a movie that mirrors the realities of life, and added that she consider it her luck for being able to be a part of this movie.

Shashank Arora, Harish Khanna, Alancier, and Soubin Shahir does the other important roles in this film being scripted by none other than Anurag Kashyap. Cinematography of the movie is being done by Geetu’s husband and directed Rajeev Ravi.

The movie is slated to hit the silver screens by 2018.
