NIZAMBAD: Two Dalit men were threatened and abused allegedly by BJP leader and made them to dip in a small pond in Nizamabad district of southern Indian state of Telangana on Sunday.

The shocking video of the purported incident, which took place at Abhangapatnam village in Navipet mandal of the district in September, has gone viral on social media and being highlighted by television channels.

The video shows an angry bearded man believed to be BJP leader Bharat Reddy holding a stick and threateningly asking the two men, who are pleading with folded hands (apparently requesting him to spare them), to enter the pond as a “punishment”. The man is heard using filthy language against the duo and also threatened them with dire consequences.

The video also shows the two men get into water and take dips even as the 43-year-old man continues to hurl abuses against them.

Reports suggest that the two Dalit youths Rajeshwar and Kondra Laxman had allegedly stopped the vehicle in which Reddy was travelling. The duo raised questions about illegal gravel quarry that the BJP leader was indulging in, which left Reddy fuming, following which he abused and threatened them.

According to Deccan Chronicle reports, Reddy has been accused of involvement in two murders and there are also several other cases registered against him at various police stations in the district.

None of the two victims have filed a complaint about the incident with police.

However, on the complaint lodged by MRPS, a case under IPC section 506 (criminal intimidation) and under relevant sections of SC and the STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against Bharat Reddy.
