THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Women’s Commission chairperson M C Josephine has come to the fore countering the remarks made by the National Commission for Women chairperson after visiting Akhila who converted to Islam and adopted the name Hadiya after being a victim of ‘love jihad’.

National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma had said that Hadiya is safe and happy. Contrary to that M C Josephine has said in a press meet that Hadiya might be safe but not happy, and added that it’s her family that must keep her happy.

Josephine also said that Hadiya’s father Asokan allowed the National Commission for Women to visit his daughter whereas denied the permission for the same to the Kerala Women’s Commission.

“What kind of security issue could possibly be there when the state women’s commission visits which was not there when Rekha Sharma visited Hadiya?” asked Josephine.

She also questioned whether it’s only those decided by Asokan are allowed to meet Hadiya.

Josephine added that this situation with Hadiya cannot continue beyond November 27.
