KOCHI: Former MLA A Padmalkumar has been appointed as Travancore Devaswom Board president.  Shankar Das has also been appointed as CPI’s nominee. The order in this regard will be issued very soon.

Prayar Gopalakrishnan had resigned as president after the government reduced the tenure of the Devaswom board and members to two years from three years through an Ordinance. The new appointment followed this.

Padmakumar is CPM Pathanamthitta district secretariat member and Cooperative Guarantee board vice-chairman. He is the son of the late prominent contractor Aranmula Keechamparambil Achuthan Nair.

Thiruvananthapuram native Shankar Das is AITUC leader and he is also the father of former Pathanamthitta SP Harishankar IPS.
