THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has written to Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation Narendra Singh Tomar to release soon the 3-month arrears due to labourers under Mahatma Gandhi employment Guarantee scheme.

“Fourteen lakh families in the State are under Employment Guarantee scheme. Most among them are women. According to the rule, the wage should be given within fourteen days from the date of completion of the job but they have not been getting wages for the past three months. This has created a pitiable state and hence the wages may be given soon,” he wrote in the letter.
