         Cyclone Ockhi: 13 boats, 111 fishermen return to shore in Kochi    
 
KOCHI: 13 boats and 111 fishermen who went missing after Cyclone Ockhi were returned to the shore in Kochi, on Monday. A total of eight dead bodies were retained by the search operations carried out by Navy and Coast Guard, of which two were identified.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A pedestrian was killed early Sunday after being hit by a speeding car at Nalanchira. The police identified the dead as Vineeth Mathew, 50, of Keerthi Nagar in Nalanchira.

 
         Seven crude bombs recovered in Kannur    
 
KANNUR: The Panoor police recovered seven country-made bombs from an under construction house at Chendayad, following a raid. According to police, the bombs were kept inside a bag, under the staircase of an under construction house of one K P Pavithran of Chendayad, who was employed and residing in Bengaluru.

IDUKKI: A student was killed and his friend seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a KSRTC bus at Kulamavu on the Thudupuzha-Puliyanmala State highway on Saturday.

 
         Prisoners raise Rs 1 lakh    
 
THRISSUR: The inmates of Viyyur Central Jail have raised Rs. 1 lakh for the medical expenses of a fellow prisoner’s son. The amount was raised from their prison wages to help fund the surgery of the nine-year-old boy suffering from a muscular disorder.

         Fifteen foreign officers passes out from Ins Dronacharya    
 
KOCHI: Fifteen officers belonging to friendly foreign navies-- Kenya, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tanzania, Nigeria and Myanmar passed out on Friday from INS Dronacharya, on completion of 32 week "Gunnery" specialization course in an impressive parade which was reviewed by Commodore Simon Mathai, NM, the Commanding Officer of INS Dronacharya.

KOCHI: The search and rescue (SAR) operations by the Southern Naval Command continued for the eighth consecutive day over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep and Minicoy (L&M) Islands after cyclone Ockhi created havoc in the Indian coastal regions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three fishermen undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, for injuries sustained during Cyclone Ockhi were discharged on Thursday. All three were natives of Kanyakumari.

 
         Man held for bid to abduct child    
 
KOCHI: The Kochi city police have arrested a 55-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to abduct a child from children’s park. The arrested is Rajappan, a native of Ayyambilly. He was booked under IPC Section 361 (Kidnapping from lawful guardianship) on the basis of a complaint registered by the child’s parents, who are from Wayanad.

 
         Thirteen fishermen discharged    
 
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thirteen fishermen who survived the waves in the aftermath of the cyclonic storm Ockhi and were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here, were discharged on Wednesday.

KANNUR: The Panur police registered a case against eight RSS workers in connection with the attack at Chendayad here on December 5 night when two CPI (M) workers received stab injuries.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The toll in the cyclone Ockhi rose to 32 in the state with the finding of three more decomposed bodies from Kochi shore, and the demise of another fisherman, who was under treatment, at the Medical College, on Tuesday.

 
         Probe begins into death of brothers    
 
ALAPPUZHA: The police have launched a probe into the death of two brothers hailing from Poochackal here under mysterious circumstances in Bengal. Mammachan Joseph, 58, of Panavally Palliveli Kunnelveli and his brother Kunjumon, 51, died at different hospitals after being admitted there following ‘health issues’.

PALAKKAD: A 33-year-old woman and her two daughters were found dead in a pond at Vemballur, near Puthunagaram. The dead were identified as Padmavathi of Koduvayur, and her daughters, Sreelakshmi and Sreelekha.

KOLLAM: Two among the three bodies brought to the Kollam coast have been identified as that of Enayam Susai (65) from Kanyakumari and Victor (37) from Thottapuzha, Vizhinjam.

KOCHI: As rescue operations continue in full strength post the cyclonic storm 'Ockhi', Commodore G Prakash, the Commanding Officer of INS Venduruthy, said 25 people were rescued from Lakshadweep and 13 picked off the Kerala coast.

 
         Fishers continue protest    
 
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The alleged delay of the state government in responding to the Ockhi cyclone threat and initiating rescue operations sparked off protests of the fisher folk too.
