THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram city police have arrested six natives of Uttar Pradesh who attended the ongoing Army recruitment rally after allegedly claiming to be natives of Kollam and presenting fake documents.

         Man held on molestation charge    
KOCHI: The City Police on Sunday arrested an elderly man for allegedly molesting a minor girl at TD Road in the city. The accused was identified as Santosh K S, a resident of Sreenivasa Mallan Road. According to the police, the incident happened on April 20.

KOCHI: The Crime Branch on Sunday interrogated assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jayanandan, an officer attached to the Varapuzha police station, in connection with the alleged custodial death of S R Sreejith.

PALAKKAD: A 44-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son drowned in a pond near their house at Olakkappadam, near Irattayal, here on Thursday. They have been identified as Vatsala Krishnan and Ajith Krishnan.

IDUKKI: A native of Uttar Pradesh was arrested in connection with the drowning of his relative and Madhya Pradesh resident in the Thodupuzha river last Saturday.

ALAPPUZHA: A district court here recently found six persons guilty in the murder of Congress ward president K S Divakaran. Those found guilty were V Sujith, 38, S Sathish Kumar, 38, P Praveen, 32, M Benny, 45, N Sethu Kumar, 45 and R Byju, 45.

KASARAGOD: A 12-year-old boy drowned in a river near Kumbla. Aveesh, son of Vikraman, a resident of Adukathbayal here, ventured into the Shiriya river for collecting shells along with friends after taking part in a birthday party at his mother’s ancestral residence at Shiriya.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM A 22-year-old pregnant woman, who was to be admitted to SAT Hospital for delivery, went missing here. She was identified as Shamna, wife of Anshad of Pallikkal, near Madavoor. The Medical College police launched a search for Shamna following a complaint from her family.

         Denied treatment, tribal woman dies    
KALPETTA: A tribal woman died in Wayanad owing to alleged absence of timely treatment. The dead has been identified as Chappa, 61, wife of Veran of the Vennamattom tribal hamlet at Thanniyad, near Randenal, at Edavaka in the district. Chappa, who had fever and vomiting, was brought to the district hospital at Mananthavady.
